jj.mycloud+diego@gmail.comWhat to include in a report
Tell us your app version, macOS version, what you expected, and what happened. If the benchmark completed, Copy Summary provides useful machine, input and result details you can paste into your email.
Please review the summary before sending it. Don’t include passwords, serial numbers or other sensitive information. The app never sends a report automatically.
Common questions
How do I run a benchmark?
Choose rows and columns with rows at least as large as columns, enter the measured iteration count, and select Run Benchmark. The app performs one excluded warm-up, then times and validates each measured iteration. Start with a modest size such as 1000 × 1000.
Why are the numerical errors identical across iterations?
By default, every iteration uses the same deterministic matrix. Repeated factorizations can produce identical residual and orthogonality errors. Enable New matrix each iteration to use different inputs from a repeatable seed sequence.
What does the performance score include?
Only Apple Accelerate’s dgeqrf execution time. Generation, matrix copying, Q construction, multiplication and numerical checks are outside QR timing. The overall score is total estimated QR work divided by total measured QR time.
What does the residual mean?
The relative residual is ‖A − QR‖F / ‖A‖F. It measures how closely the reconstructed product matches the input matrix. Smaller values mean a closer reconstruction. The orthogonality diagnostic is reported separately.
Why does Cancel sometimes take a moment?
Cancellation is checked between numerical operations. An Accelerate factorization or multiplication already in progress must finish before the app can stop.
How do I compare two Macs fairly?
Use the same dimensions, iteration count, seed, matrix-generation mode and diagonal settings. Record macOS and app versions. Keep power settings, temperature and background activity similar. Very small matrices are useful for correctness checks but poor performance comparisons.
Can I export every iteration?
The free app provides Copy Summary for a concise plain-text result. You can inspect individual iterations in the app. File export and other export formats are not included.
